2018 INNO SUMMER INSTITUTE

Archetypical Inquiry

Course Description

This course will teach students how to recognize archetypes found across classic stories. We will draw parallels between English and History by reading and analyzing folk tales in greek mythology, fairy tales, and foreign folklore. Students will learn about common archetypes such as the valiant knight, the damsel in distress, and the underdog. Towards the end of the course, the students will be able to identify these archetypes and use their skills to analyze modern media. For the culminating project, the students will create a narrated skit displaying their newfound knowledge in an engaging and humorous way.
