Humans have proven to be infinitely creative in the ways they pass the time. Across the world, different cultures have developed distinct styles of game-based entertainment, involving everything from sticks and balls to darts and cards. Though these games often have dramatically different rules, they share a most captivating component: strategy. In this heavily activity-based course, students will explore the hidden mathematics in the strategic design of various games by engaging with them, analyzing their tactics, and replaying them with new insights. The goal of this course is to foster students’ curiosity about the world and equip them with the tools to make their own discoveries.
