2020 INNO SUMMER INSTITUTE

Music Matters

Course Description

How are sound waves produced to create the cohesive jumble of sounds we call music? How does music affect the brain and human development? Bring out your inner Beethoven (or Bruno Mars, if you prefer) in Music Matters as we explore the history and technical aspects of music, how events have shaped its development, and how music affects our lives, personally and culturally, today. We will study topics including the psychology of music, basic music theory, different music genres, the evolution of music, and music from around the world, creating music of our own with quirky, hands-on projects. Through our course, we hope you'll be inspired to seek out and appreciate music, traditional and not-so-traditional, in the often unexpected nooks and crannies of life.
