This past summer, we hosted our very first two-week program at Concordia University! Here are some highlights from our kickoff session:
"I learned more in two weeks here than I do in a year of school!"
-Aidan Gadepalli, 6th grade
"The counselors are friendly, well mannered, knowledgeable, and good
role models. The camp is very well organized and smoothly run. "
-Pleased INNO parent
"I think what sets INNO apart is the counselors. They know how to relate
to you in a way that adults can't."
-Rishab Jayaraman, 8th grade
Last Year's Course Offerings:
English
The English curriculum will be split into two focus topics: fictional writing and argumentative essays. Students will learn to think creatively and develop crucial persuasive skills that will help them to improve their writing for high school and college.
Math
In this core curriculum, students will learn engaging mathematical concepts such as graphing on the Cartesian coordinate plane and modeling the motion of objects, and will explore the applications of these math concepts to the real world.
History
September 7, 1978. London, UK. Bulgarian dissident writer Georgi Markov waits at a bus stop when, suddenly, he feels a slight prick on his leg. A nearby pedestrian holding an umbrella mumbles his apologies. Three days later, Markov dies. What happened? In this class, we will investigate the true scenarios like the one above and explore the environment and sociology behind the greatest war that never happened: the Cold War.
Computer Science
Students will be introduced to the world of computer programming through basic coding languages such as Java and will then be able to apply their skills by learning to control the movements of a robotic finch.
Psychology
The INNO Psychology course will consist of an overview of the subtopics of consciousness and learning. The consciousness unit includes sleep and sleeping disorders as well as topics such as addiction and hypnosis. We will teach the students about learning theories, styles, and disabilities in addition to the basic theories of motivation.
Astronomy
3, 2, 1... Blast Off! Travel with us to the far reaches of outer space. We will journey to Mars and explore the Sun and stars, and travel back in time to learn about the very first astronomical discoveries and technologies. Experience what it feels like to walk on the moon and create your own celestial volcano. Are you ready for an out-of-this-world experience?
